Engineering & Development

The Technical Service (Engineering  &  Development, 11101 - 104 Avenue, Grande Prairie, AB  T8V 8H6) area ensures our systems are built  properly for present and future needs.

They contribute through:

• preparation of master plans, preliminary design reports and servicing studies
• oversight of corporate interests within municipal planning and development processes
• monitoring, modelling and assessment of utility systems
• preparation and enforcement of design and construction standards
• capital plan and infrastructure charge policy updates
• implementation of capital and major maintenance projects
• maintenance and updates to asset inventories

They also provide technical support to the entire organization.  They assist areas within Aquatera with their capital and operating maintenance projects, and work externally with developers, engineering consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.

Ongoing activities that support the operating areas include:

• administration of the service connection process
• cathodic protection surveys and maintenance
• liaising with municipal transportation departments on road construction projects
• GPS surveys
• administration of crossing permits for major transmission lines
• processing rental payments for rail crossings
