Shareholders appoint six directors to Aquatera Board
Grande Prairie, AB – Aquatera’s shareholders have unanimously appointed six new members to the Aquatera Board of Directors. Three of the members will be appointed effective immediately, while three additional members will begin their terms effective the Annual General Meeting in June.
The three members appointed for terms beginning immediately are Abe Neufeld, Darren Kjemhus and Kenneth Cory. Three additional members - Chris Labossiere, David Urness, and Jim Smith - will be appointed effective at the June annual meeting.
Shareholders agreed last summer to change the composition of the Board of Directors from a mix of politicians and public members to only public members who are appointed unanimously by all three shareholders. Today’s decision also increases the board size from six to nine members, allowing for a diverse set of experience within the board. Terms range between one, two and three years, and will be established at the annual meeting.
The nomination process began with a nomination process which included advertisements and reaching out to members in the community who may have been interested in applying for the positions. Those nominated were reviewed by a committee which included City of Grande Prairie Mayor Bill Given, County of Grande Prairie Reeve Everett MacDonald, and Town of Sexsmith Mayor Claude Lagace. The Board of Directors then recommended the appointment of the new members to Aquatera’s shareholders, who unanimously agreed to the appointments of the six members.
