Household Hazardous Waste

Hazardous wastes consist of solid or liquid materials, or containers holding gases, which have outlived their usefulness or have expired. These wastes may harm humans or the environment unless given special handling and treatment in the way they are discarded.  They may be flammable, corrosive, explosive or toxic.  These should not be disposed of in the landfill or sewage system.

Aquatera's Eco Centre offers residents of Grande Prairie a permanent year round Household Hazardous Waste Depot that is free of charge.

Household Hazardous Waste is anything in your home that has a warning symbol displayed on it.  When a product displaying one or more of the following warning symbols is discarded (after considering reuse possibilities), it should be disposed of properly. 

Products must be in the original container, with label intact, properly sealed and with good integrity.
