Collection System
Aquatera maintains and repairs the wastewater collection lines in our service areas.
Flushing of wastewater mains takes place year round. Flushing removes grease, oil, dirt, sand, hydrocarbons and any other contaminants that are not supposed to be in the sewer system. This is a very expensive process. Mains may be flushed at various frequencies, from weekly to every three years. Our crews find everything from large chunks of grease which clogs pipes to silverware.
Sewers are designed for only human waste and dirty water.
Some things that should not be flushed down drains or toilets:
- Pharmaceuticals
- Personal care products
- Fat
- Oil
- Grease
- Paints
- Solvents
- Cleaning chemicals
