GRANDE PRAIRIE – To protect the health and safety of customers, communities and employees, Aquatera Utilities Inc. is temporarily closing the Sexsmith Bulk Water Station, located at 10009 Elevator Road, effective Thursday, December 23, 2021, until further notice.

Recent cold weather events in the Grande Prairie region have resulted in ice buildup on the concrete pads, creating hazardous safety conditions for customers.

“As customers fill their units, water spillage can occur,” says Vaughn Bend, Chief Executive Officer of Aquatera. “With the colder temperatures we have been experiencing, this leads to icy and slippery patches that can impact the safety of our customers.”

During the temporary closure, customers are asked to use Aquatera’s other bulk water stations:

  • 13405 97 Street Grande Prairie, AB, east of Keddies, across the tracks, first turn to the left;
  • 12109 97 Avenue Grande Prairie, AB, west of EMCO, or southwest of Peavey Mart;
  • 711079 RR73 in Dimsdale.

The Sexsmith Bulk Water Station will reopen in the spring when the thaw and freeze cycle is complete, and it is safe to do so.

Existing customers of the Sexsmith Bulk Water Station, that have accounts set up with Aquatera, will be provided a discount. For more information, and to obtain their discount, customers can contact Aquatera by email at accounts.receivable@aquatera.ca, by phone at 780.830.7061, ext. 1, or by visiting www.aquatera.ca.
