Due to warmer weather conditions such as during springtime, you may notice an earthy, organic smell to your water but, rest assured, this is only temporary and your water is safe to drink.
The increased organic materials run into our water source - the Wapiti River - causing the temporary earthy smell and taste. These organics react with chlorine to create chloramines, which give the same scent as chlorine. In order to help reduce that earthy or chloramine smell and taste:
- Run your tap a little longer
- Fill a pitcher and leave it sit in your fridge or the counter
- Squeeze lemons or add other fruits into your water
