GRANDE PRAIRIE – Aquatera is warning the public about a sophisticated recruitment fraud scheme designed to target and deceive individuals who are seeking new employment.

“It has come to our attention that a fraudulent recruitment post for the position of Front Desk Receptionist is being published on employment-related search engines,” says Sarah Martin, Public Relations and Communications Specialist with Aquatera. “Applicants are receiving a response to their submission requesting that they forward their resume to koreatower4312@gmail.com.”

Often these schemes successfully seek to obtain personal information and money from individuals, leaving them in a vulnerable situation.

“The safety and privacy of applicants is of the utmost importance to Aquatera,” says Martin. “We are taking this matter seriously and have notified the appropriate legal authorities and associated recruitment platforms in an effort to terminate this fraudulent activity.”

Aquatera wants applicants to know that, under no circumstances, will they:

  • Request personal or financial information or transactions,
  • Request that you resubmit your application to an unofficial account,
  • Send emails from an unofficial or free email account such as Gmail, Hotmail, Live, Yahoo, AOL, etc.

To ensure the validity of an employment opportunity with Aquatera, applicants can visit www.aquatera.ca/careers to confirm all available opportunities. For increased security, jobseekers are encouraged submit their application directly to Aquatera using this platform.

If you suspect that you are a victim of fraud, please contact the RCMP.
