MEDIA RELEASE
Garbage Cart Size Survey Online
October 11, 2016
GRANDE PRAIRIE– Aquatera is inviting customers to provide feedback on the size of their residential garbage cart via an online survey.
The short survey takes only a few minutes to complete and will help determine the public opinion on the need for smaller or larger carts in Grande Prairie.
“We are always looking for way to improve services to our customers,” says Chelsea Lewis, Communications Manager. “We’ve received feedback from the public about providing more than one option for cart sizes, so this survey is an opportunity to explore that.”
Currently, Aquatera provides a single option for residential garbage carts, which are 65 gallons (240 litres).
“The feedback we’ve received from residents asks us to look at creating what could be described as a ‘pay as you throw’ system, where our customers pay a reduced rate for a smaller cart, with any additional bags requiring a bag tag,” says Brent Giesbrecht, Acting Recycling Manager.
“We understand that each household has its own unique needs,” he adds. “This survey will provide us with some preliminary information to gauge our customer’s appetite for a change. What we hear back will determine whether we move forward with further research into the feasibility of such a change.”
