GRANDE PRAIRIE – Aquatera took a refreshing step forward in promoting community health and well-being with the installation of a drinking water fountain near the South Bear Creek Dog Park in the heart of Grande Prairie. This new addition reaffirms Aquatera’s commitment to providing clean, safe, accessible, water for residents and visitors alike.
The newly installed drinking water fountain marks a significant stride towards creating a more hydrated and health-conscious community. This initiative not only fulfills the basic need for clean drinking water but also aligns with Aquatera’s core purpose of Growing Healthy Communities.
"We believe that a thriving community is one that values the well-being of its members," states Vaughn Bend, Aquatera’s Chief Executive Officer. "The installation of the drinking water fountain near South Bear Creek Park is a step forward in fostering a culture of wellness and unity within our community."
Strategically located to serve both pedestrians and outdoor enthusiasts, the drinking water fountain is a testament to Aquatera's dedication to promoting an active lifestyle. With easy access for those enjoying the nearby walking trails, bike skills park or the ball diamonds, the fountain invites individuals to stay hydrated while participating in outdoor activities. Furry companions working up a thirst at the off-leash dog park can also quench their thirst with the accessible water dispenser designed for pets.
In partnership with the City of Grande Prairie, Aquatera covered the costs of purchasing and installing the fountain; the City will be responsible for maintaining the fountain.
"The City is proud to be part of this innovative partnership to better serve our residents. We're excited to have the new drinking water fountain installed as a demonstration of Council's commitment of promoting an active lifestyle, which was made possible through prioritizing engaging relationships with our community partners,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton.
The fountain will be open during the warmer months, and closed from approximately October 15 to May 15, depending on weather.
