Water Week North Conference Underway

October 18, 2016

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Water smarts are set to grow at Aquatera’s 4th annual Water Week North Conference this week.

The threeday conference is held each fall at the Holiday Inn & Suites Grande Prairie. This year it runs from October 18-20.

Operators of water and wastewater treatment facilities, distribution and collection systems and technical engineering employees as well as CAO’s, and Council Members from around the province are in Grande Prairie this week to expand their knowledge.

Topics such as Water & Wastewater Chemistry, Training or Tragedy and Working in Confined Spaces will be presented to over 80 delegates from over two dozen utilities and organizations, helping them gather new skills and techniques while staying on top of current technology.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to learn from other municipalities in a session called A Tale of Two Recoveries: Water Supply Protection in Prince Albert and WWTP Recovery in Ft. McMurray.

“This distance from learning centres such as Edmonton and Calgary makes it challenging for those who work in the field to upgrade training, which is required for all water and wastewater operators in Alberta,” says Chelsea Lewis, Communications Manager.

“Operators will earn Continuing Education Credits for the sessions they attend and have an opportunity to network with others in the industry, including 30 different tradeshow delegates who will be set up, giving them valuable face-to-face time with their key customers and potential clients.”
